VBNK Empowers NGOs in Phnom Penh with Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI)into NGO Activities

VBNK Empowers Local NGOs to Integrate AI in Their Daily Work

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

On July 8 and 9, 2025, VBNK successfully conducted its 4th and 5th training sessions on “Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into NGO Activities” at ERA Hotel, Phnom Penh.

The sessions were part of the project “ICT Capacity Development for Civic Engagement and Women’s Empowerment.”

A total of 22 participants (including 14 women) from 9 NGOs joined the two one-day sessions. The training focused on:

  • Writing effective AI prompts: How to get the results we expect from AI.

  • Using AI to develop reports or guidelines: The VBNK team guided NGOs through the first steps in drafting their own organizational ICT security guidelines, tailored to their context and capacity.

  • Creating high-quality images with the help of AI: Participants used different AI applications to produce high-quality images for their organizations.

  • Using Learning Management System (LMS) to support learning: For supporting our participants' learning process, VBNK developed a LMS so that the participants can refresh their knowledge. Furthermore, VBNK helps the NGOs develop their own LMS.

Training results:

  • 100% of participants reported achieving the main training objectives related to using AI applications to support their work.

  • Over 90% of participants improved their ability to generate quality images using AI.

  • Confidence in AI use increased significantly, while only 50% felt confident before the training, 100% reported feeling confident or very confident afterwards.

  • Most participants successfully drafted ICT Security Guidelines for their organizations.

Participant Reflections and Relevance

“ Many participants highlighted prompt writing as the most valuable skill, followed by ICT security guideline development. They are committed to applying AI in report writing, proposal writing, creating IEC materials, and managing social media".

"The ICT Security Guideline we drafted today will help protect our organization’s data and improve our digital safety."

“It was new knowledge for me. I will use it to improve my work and finalize our ICT Security Guideline for practical use in my organization.”

VBNK will continue to support the participants through follow-up webinars, helping them deepen their skills and apply AI more effectively in their work.

This includes:

  • Answering open questions related to AI use in NGOs

  • Finalizing development of ICT Security Guidelines

  • Learning about Website management and development

  • Supporting in the development of online courses and LMS

VBNK is proud to continue building local NGO capacity in applying AI for stronger, safer, and more effective digital operations.
