VBNK Empowers Women’s soft skill on Financial Literacy

As part of the ICT Capacity Development project funded by Bread for the World (BfdW), VBNK has conducted a one-day soft-skill training workshop in Kampot province focused on “Financial Literacy”. The training in particular has contributed to the VBNK’s mission to strengthen financial literacy capacity for women who are members of Satrey Chnoeum Women Network, the staff of the Social Enterprise, and youths’ organization staff by enhancing their capacity and equipping grassroots organizations with practical tools and knowledge to adapt to the emerging technologies.
This training is part of our ongoing commitment to strengthen women’s capacity in managing their finances effectively and sustainably.
Key learning areas included:
What is Finance Literacy: Participants explored the definition of financial literacy and understood its importance in running and growing a successful business.
Budget Planning for Business: The training emphasized why a budget plan is essential. Participants learned how to develop a three-month budget plan for both personal and business finances using practical tools and templates.
Income and Expense Management: Women entrepreneurs learned practical skills to manage their cash flow, track income sources, and control expenses to ensure long-term financial health.
Income and Expenses Recording: Participants were guided on how to record daily income and expenses using user-friendly forms like the Income Recording Form, Expense Recording Form, and Cash In/Out Form. These tools help them monitor business performance and maintain financial transparency.
Participant Reflections and Relevance
There was feedback from many participants which stated that this was their first time learning about budget planning for business and management of incomes and expenses. They expressed how the training provided them the knowledge/awareness to the importance of tracking income and expenses for making informed business decisions. Several women committed to immediately applying their new knowledge by creating budget plans and financial records for their businesses.
This training is a vital step in empowering women with the skills they need to strengthen their businesses and increase their incomes.
