How I can improve my social media skills and use social media for promoting civic engagement and social inclusion

On 28-29 Sep 2024 and 05-06 Oct 2024, The Youth Ignite Project of VBNK delivered a 2-day training on How I can improve my social media skills and use social media for promoting civic engagement and social inclusion at Poulowai Hotel, for group1 and 2 participants under funding support from USAID through Advancing Youth Leadership (AYL) for the implementation of project activity on enhancing ‘the Leadership and Civic Engagement of Youth in Phnom Penh’.

This event was participated by 48 youth participants and a monk, 31 female youths, 1 monk, 4 indigenous youths, 9 Khmer-Islam youths, and 3 LGBTQI+.


Objectives: 

By the end of the training participants will be able:


  • Increase their knowledge and skills on managing and create a Facebook page, including setting up essential information and understanding how to engage effectively with their audience.

  • Gain a foundational understanding of social media platforms, with a focus on their basic functions and the effective use of visual content to enhance engagement and communication.

  • Understand the importance of protecting their personal data and privacy online and learn practical steps to safeguard their information on social media, websites, and other digital platforms.

  • Increase their knowledge and skills to protect their devices (computers, smartphones, tablets) from security threats and to handle them safely in digital environments.

  • Understand various digital communication tools, setting up, joining, and managing meetings or group chats, and understanding the appropriate use of each platform in different contexts.

  • Participants will gain the knowledge to verify sources of digital content and check the reliability of online information to avoid misinformation.
