The Labor Rights in Cambodia (LRIC)

The Labor Rights in Cambodia (LRIC) is implemented by the Solidarity Center Cambodia with the goal to enlarge civic space by promoting labor rights and industrial relations to advance democratic development and governance in Cambodia.

The Labor Rights in Cambodia (LRIC) is implemented by the Solidarity Center Cambodia with the goal to enlarge civic space by promoting labor rights and industrial relations to advance democratic development and governance in Cambodia. VBNK is working in collaboration with Solidarity Center on one objective out of the four objectives only. Objective 2 of the LRIC is to Improve Representation of Worker Interests in Targeted Sectors/Industries: LRIC will support 15 unions and worker organization partners to strengthen internal structures, promote good governance, increase membership, cultivate women and youth leaders, and promote self-reliance and sustainability. 
The duration of the project was 45 months, from October 2019 to June 2023.

Topic: Membership Database Management

Name: Mr. Tuon Saren, Treasury General


Mr. Tuon Saren is Treasury General, he has been working with the union since June 2011. He regularly participated in capacity development interventions from VBNK. He is the key person who is responsible for membership database management with support from ExCom members.

Topic: Financial Management

Name: Ms. Choup Lida, Finance Officer


Currently, Ms. Choup Lida is the Finance Officer.  She reported about the problem of having a neither financial policy nor an accounting system for financial management in the association. She added that she had difficulties in managing the membership fees and funding that was supported by the donors such as supporting documents for the expenses, how she paid the travel to the team when they conducted the meetings with the members in the province etc. There was unclear policy and procedures for expenditures and weak internal control.

Topic: Improved Recruitment Process 

Name: Mrs. Ou Tepphallin, President


Mrs. Tepphallin has been elected by the workers' congress since 2017 as the president. Among other roles, recruitment of union officers/staff is one of her tasks. Together with other ExCom members, she has involved in recruiting a variety of positions for her federation, including administration and accounting officer.
