From 25-29 March 2019 at the Ecumenical Diakonia Center, Phnom Penh City, VBNK conducted a five-day Training of Facilitator (ToF) for 24 participants (14 females or 58%) from 8 NGO partners. The training aimed at providing the participating NGO staff to obtain the required tools and resources and feel confident to deliver trainings for community representatives in their respective target areas. More precisely, participants learned the basic principles of adult learning; improved their facilitation skills; improved their communication skills; learned the basic concept of Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycles (ARLP); and improved their skills in monitoring their project activities. After the TOF, VBNK consultants will closely follow up to ensure the participants practice what they have learned from the training accordingly.
The facilitation skills they gained will help to bring all the relevant stakeholders together to foster understanding of their different roles and responsibilities and how they can best work together to solve local development challenges at the commune level. The empowering and accountability project will be implemented through partnership with 8 CNGOs in Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, and Tbong Khmum provinces over 2 and a half years’ period.
