Social Accountability is an effective approach and tool that has been legally framed to promote the better services to the people and people participation. The NGOs has also the roles to advocate for the better implementation the social accountability framework.
On August 11, 2019, Mr. Chhit Muny, our consultant visited and delivered the sessions on Social Accountability in Youth Seminar with the Youth Council of Cambodia (YCC), a partner organization who work to develop youth capacity and to engage youth in promoting the social accountability in the communities.
The seminar aims to improve youth capacity in understanding democratic development and its structure, its principles, good governance, community development and the importance of social accountability framework implementation. Through the interactive facilitation and delivering the sessions, the participants were aware of the concepts, framework, importance and their roles in promoting the social accountability. There were around 60 youth from different background and places participated in the seminar. The participants enjoyed learning in the delivered sessions. ‘The session helped me to be clear on what the Social Accountability is and the roles of people to participate in this process ’a participant said. At the end the participants also expressed the willingness to participate in activities to promote the social accountability in their communities.
