As part of the Cambodian-German Social Health Protection project, VBNK has been involved in the capacity development of health officials working alongside GIZ and Local NGOs in Kompong Thom, Kampot and Kep province. Under one of its project outputs, the SHP aims for the development of a local community health management that contributes to an increasing utilization of public health services.
VBNK and Local Partners have been assigned to provide capacity development support to Village Health Support Group (VHSG) in 10 Health Centers on 10,12,16,18 and 20 of September 2019, there are 86 (F67) attended training. The first round of the capacity development, VBNK and Local Partners have co-developed and delivered a range of key topics to VHSG members who gained a clear understanding of why they need to encourage Health Centre visits for the following:
- ANC – women need to attend four times before delivery of their babies
- Vaccinations for children
- OPD – especially relating to Hypertension and Diabetes
- Post-delivery (PNC) women need to attend four times after the delivery of their baby
At a joint debriefing between the VBNK team and local partners after the first round of trainings, we learnt that ‘the capacity development approach i.e. the training of VHSG members topic chosen is proved to be good match to the demand of VHSG in terms of health message necessary for their community. It is importance for continuing coach these health center on completing the Continue Qualitative Indicators (CQI) form. It is also importance to coach more on indicator related to OPD rate, and the ANC
