During December 2019, VBNK facilitated the 2nd community conversation village meetings jointly with local NGO staff, duty bearers and community representatives in the target villages in Prey Chhor district, Kampong Cham province.
Overarching Objective: Community to understand the decision-making, M&E and accountability processes within the NGO; and how they can influence them.
The activities introduced the NGOs, Citizens, CRs and CCs/CCWCs to the goals of the EA project in relation to decision-making processes at the NGO and local levels. The community members were introduced to the work of the NGO and the NGO governance and decision-making processes, and a facilitated discussion took place with the community members about how to ensure that the community can influence decision-making processes within the NGO; so that the NGO can demonstrate to the donor that they are responding to the needs and concerns of the community they serve.
After each consultative village meeting, the EA team debriefed and reflected with the NGO, CCs/CCWCs and CRs on what worked well, what didn’t work so well, how to respond to the issues raised in the consultation and who will take the community voice from the consultation back to the NGO to influence change.
