Recognizing the inseparable link between personal change and social change, VBNK’s leadership development programs address both relationship competence and technical competence and set out, firstly, to challenge mind-set, values and assumptions, hierarchical leadership styles and power dynamics that constrain participatory development in Cambodia; and, secondly, to develop strategies to address cultural and social obstacles to change and development. At the same time the programs recognize that effective leaders must also develop professional will and the professional skills to achieve the best long-term results and to act as catalysts for change within their organizations and communities.
Over the last 13 years, VBNK has continuously refined its approach to leadership development to demonstrate its application across a range of contexts. Our tailor-made programs are designed in collaboration with partners. We have, for example, delivered leadership development programs to senior government officials, directors and senior managers of NGOs, as well as to field-level practitioners working directly in community development.
